Summary  

The Makery Manager contributes to Buff City Soap’s success by leading a team to create and maintain the Buff City Soap Experience for our guests. The Makery Manager is required to regularly exercise discretion in managing the overall operation of the Makery. A majority of their time will be spent supervising and directing the workforce, making staffing decisions (i.e., hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, discharging, staffing, and scheduling), ensuring guest satisfaction and quality of guest experience, monitoring and motivating staff to achieve performance goals, handling minor maintenance issues, ensuring the cleanliness of your Makery, and managing safety and security within the Makery. The Makery Manager is responsible for modeling and acting in accordance with Buff City Soap principles in order to deliver an exceptional guest experience. 


Contributions 

  • Develops and coaches Soap Makers to provide amazing guest experiences 

  • Follows up swiftly on guest concerns and issues 

  • Consistently sets a positive example and demonstrates a calm demeanor during periods of high volume 

  • Displays a guest-comes-first attitude by holding team members accountable for quality guest service over production. 

  • Drives company metrics by developing action plans. Directly motivates and instructs the team by implementing company programs. 

  • Manages with integrity and honesty and promotes the culture, values, and mission of Buff City Soap. 

  • Plans, identifies, communicates, and delegates responsibilities to team members to ensure smooth flow of operations. 

  • Maintains outstanding Makery conditions and visual merchandising compliance with the Buff City Soap brand standards. 

  • Directly responsible for the production, cleanliness, maintenance, sanitation, and organization of the Makery. 

  • Manages and tracks the stock of raw materials, finished products, and supplies. 

  • Manages Makery staffing levels to maintain Makery operational labor requirements while focusing on Soap Maker development. 

  • Adherence to applicable wage and hour laws for non-exempt team members and minors. 

  • Uses all operational tools to plan for and achieve operational excellence in the Makery.  

  • Tools include labor guidelines, reports, cash management, and inventory management. 

  • Utilizes financial reports to identify and address trends and issues in Makery performance. 

  • Regularly conducts performance assessments, providing feedback, and setting challenging goals to improve sales performance. 

  • Manage ongoing sales. 


Qualifications and Requirements:  

  • The Makery Manager is required to work a 5-day workweek of 40 hours per week. (minimum) 

  • The Makery Manager is required to work a varying number of open and/or closing shifts each week in cooperation with their shift-leads based on business trends and staffing needs. 

  • Must have reliable and accessible means of transportation to go to the bank as needed. 

  • College education is preferred, but not required. 

  • Management and/or Sales Experience Required. 

  • Basic Computer skills (ability to use Word, Excel, and Outlook) 

  • Ability to manage effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple situations simultaneously. 

  • Strong knowledge of guest service techniques and operational practices. 

  • Strong problem solving and organizational/planning skills. 

  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor while having knowledge of supervisory practices and procedures. 

  • Team-building skills 

  • Ability to prioritize and delegate. 


Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. 

  • Must not be sensitive to various scents and fragrances. 

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers. 

  • Ability to lift or assist in lifting items and heavy boxes up to 50lbs. 

  • Ability to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, twist and stoop, kneel or crouch. 

  • Ability to perform Makery cleaning functions including dusting, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, etc.
